The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga has finally made his way to Kkooki amidst protest by the Kamuswaga Apollo Ssansa Kabumbuli II. Mayiga is expected to tour Kkooki chiefdom and visit beneficiaries of the Kingdoms coffee growing project commonly known as 'Emwanyi Terimba,"

Although Mayiga had planned to start his tour at 8:30am, he was blocked by security from living Hotel Brovad in Masaka town where he spent a night. Security intervened after the Kamuswaga protested Mayiga's visit, saying the Mengo establishment hadn't sought permission to visit his territory.

URN has since established that the Buganda Agriculture and Lands Minister, Engineer Martin Sseremba Kasekende communicated Mayiga's visit to Kkooki but the Kamuswaga rejected the communication on grounds that he wasn't addressed by his full titles.

Kasekende reportedly addressed the Kamuswaga as "Owekitiibwa" loosely translated as honorable, a thing that didn't go down well with the chiefdom.

Joseph Ssebyala, the Kkooki Chiefdom Cultural Minister accuses Mengo of deliberately undermining their cultural leader who should have been addressed as His Royal Highness. He says they were earlier compelled to suspend any cooperation with Mengo because of undermining their cultural institution.

Ssebyala says they sought to block Mayiga's visit because of Mengo's failure to address their concerns. However, security okayed Mayiga's visit following a meeting chaired by the Southern Region Police Commander, Latif Zaake.

Mayiga emerged from his hotel room and embarked on his journey. A police patrol car escorted Mayiga's motorcade up to Namajuzi wetland about seven kilometers out of Masaka town along Kyotera road.

Katikkiro's motorcade drove at a terrible speed with the help of his security detail that cleared the way and blocked any vehicles from overtaking the convoy. Mayiga and his team made their way to St Bernard's Mannya Secondary School at around 2:30pm to pay a courtesy call to victims of the fire that destroyed the students' dormitory on November 11th.

Addressing residents in the schools dining hall, Mayiga noted that he had defeated the hurdles that had delayed him on his way to visit the kingdoms subjects in Kkooki and encourage hard work.
