Rwakafuzi told the court that Bukenya alias BK was alleged to have been the leader of a gang that masterminded attacks in Masaka, Kampala and Wakiso districts. He was arrested, paraded before Media on April 23, 2017, and sent to Nalufenya.
Grace Bukenya, one of the persons charged with the murder of slain Police Spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi is demanding for a payment of 250 million Shillings and an apology from the Inspector General of Police for his illegal detention and trial.
Human Rights Lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuzi presented the suspects demand in the Civil Division of the High Court presided over by Justice Harriet Oloya, this morning.
Rwakafuzi told the court that Bukenya alias BK was alleged to have been the leader of a gang that masterminded attacks in Masaka, Kampala and Wakiso districts. He was arrested, paraded before Media on April 23, 2017, and sent to Nalufenya.
BK was later charged alongside 19 others, with the murder of Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his Bodyguard Kenneth Erau and Driver Geoffrey Mambewa. The three were brutally murdered from Kulambiro, a suburb of Kampala in March. Bukenya spent three months in Nalufeya prior to his recent release.
Previously, Bukenya was named by another suspect, Juma Muyirwa, as the commander of a group that was believed to be behind the rampant house break-ins and circulation of anonymous letters warning of impending attacks in the Districts of Kampala, Wakiso and Masaka.
Bukenya says the arrest and subsequent trial tarnished his image in the eyes of the general public. Bukenya, 42, was the Chief Security Officer of Kaki Security group at the time of his arrest. He has since lost the job and is seeking damages arising out of the trial and detention.

Bukenya says the humiliation arising out of his arrest continues to haunt him to this day as members of the public shun him and accuse him of criminalities in their areas.

The case was adjourned to January 12, 2018, to allow the Inspector General of Police time to appear before the court before a decision is taken on the matter.
