Eight suspects charged with the murder of former Police
Spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi have been remanded for the third time despite
being granted bail.
The suspects; Abdul-Rashid Mbaziira alias Muhammed Buyondo,
Aramanzani Noordin Higenyi alias Taata Abdullazack, Yusuf Mugerwa alias Wilson,
Bruhan Balyejusa alias Jimmy Masiga Ogutu.
Others are; Joshua Magezi Kyambadde alias Abdu Rahman,
Jibril Kalyango alias Abu Aisha, Yusuf Siraje Nyanzi alias Jimmy Ssentamu and
Shafik Kasujja.
On Thursday, the Assistant Court Registrar at the International
Crimes Division (ICD) Esther Nansambu told court that the suspects were
not going to regain their freedom because they had not yet fulfilled their bail
terms.
On March, 19th, 2019, Justice Lydia Mugambe granted the
suspects a non-cash bail of 150 million shillings and 250 million also non-cash
for their sureties.
Justice Mugambe among other conditions asked them to verify their
Identification Cards with NIRA but the suspects who allege that the cards were
confiscated by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence have since had
difficult times.
On March, 29th, 2019, the Deputy Registrar of ICD Harriet
Nalukwago Ssali wrote to NIRA Director asking them to verify the suspects’ National
Identification Cards.

The suspects through their lawyer Anthony Wameli requested court
to adjourn the case to May, 8th.
State Prosecutors Lillian Omar Alum and Jacqueline Okwi told court
that they didn’t have objections to the adjournment.
