Coach Mike Mutebi speaks to the players in Angola yesterday.
Uganda League champions KCCA FC will face a tough hurdle tonight in Angola when they face home side CD Premeiro de Agosto in the second leg of the Total CAF Champions League preliminary round.
After a slim 1-0 win in Kampala last weekend, coach Mike Mutebi's team face a tall order at the 11th Novembro Stadium in-front of 48,000 spectators. KCCA FC can afford a draw or any loss of not less than a goal but make sure they also score a goal.
“We shall be very cautious in this game because we are playing away from home. But we need to convert the chances we create,” Mutebi said in Launda yesterday.
“We have to be more aggressive, just like the first leg or even better, because they love having the ball and we also want to have the ball, so we must dominate possession but also convert our chances, it's important that we play for a win and not sit back,” midfielder Ivan Ntege said at the Rianha Njinga Hotel.
But the CD Premeiro de Agosto coach Jovic Dragan has warned that there is no way the Ugandan side will defeat them in Luanda. “We must score more than one goal in our Stadium,” the Bosnian born coach told the local media on Saturday.
At this stage in 2009, KCCA FC knocked out Ferroviário Maputo from Mozambique 3-2 on aggregate, and did the same to Sudanese outfit Al-Merriekh by the same margin. In-case KCCA FC qualify they will face defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa (home of Ugandan Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango).
