KCCA FC Maintain Lead In Azam Premier League

Coach Mike Mutebi's KCCA FC have maintained their lead on the Azam Uganda Premier League with a few matches played in the second round.

Fresh from walloping Onduparaka FC 7-0 last weekend, KCCA FC have accumulated 38 points from 17 matches played, while second placed SC Villa who have played two games more have 37 points.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma, the League leading scorer with 11 points told URN that he is determined to keep scoring so that his team can retain the League title. “I was signed to score goals and I will keep doing that,” said the soft spoken Sserunkuma who was part of the Uganda Cranes squad at the just concluded 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

KCCA FC will be out to increase their lead on the League table on Friday when they travel to face The Saints FC at the Champions Stadium, Matugga. They will also use the game tp prepare ahead of a Total CAF Champions League first round clash away to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

On Tuesday Arua based Onduparaka FC returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Police FC at the Philip Omondi Stadium. Living Kabon and Gadaffi Gadinho scored to keep the League debutants in third place. URA FC also picked a 2-0 win away to Lweza FC, while Kirinya Jinja SS humbled The saints 2-0 and Vipers SC settled for a goalless draw against JMC Hippos FC.

Action in the Azam Uganda Premier League will return on Friday with The Saints FC against KCCA FC and Bidco FC playing host to Vipers SC.
