Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) has denied that their star midfielder Hassan Wasswa Mawanda has signed for a team in the Vietnam League.
David Tamale, the team Secretary told Uganda Radio Network on phone, that Wasswa could not simply sign for another club without going through the proper channels.
Mawanda who captained the Cranes to qualification for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) on Monday announced that he had signed for Vietnam’s Don Nai FC.
Wasswa who also helped KCCA FC win the League title last season was late last month given permission to undergo trials with a club in Qatar.
But Tamale said the club did not give Wasswa permission to sign for any club. He said the club would write to the FA to prevent him from accessing an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) to make a move.
Tamale said they had signed the player for two years and he Wasswa has not even made a year with the club. Tamale insists that Wasswa will have to first receive their consent because KCCA FC holds his ITC.
Before his return to Uganda last season, Turkish side Erciyesspor FC had held on to his ITC after they claimed the player had not honoured his contractual obligations. But FIFA went on to order the team to release the player and he was given a provisional license.
