The head coach of Uganda's Cricket team Steve Tikolo has said the five build-up games against Kenya during the Easter break are very vital for his team.

“These five games against a strong Kenyan team will give us a good platform,” Tikolo told URN ahead of the first game on Friday at the Kyambogo Oval.

Coached by Thomas Odoyo, the Kenyan team arrived aboard a Rwanda Airlines flight on Thursday morning. Former star player and Kenya cricket legend Maurice Odumbe also traveled with the team as batting coach.

Tikolo said these games against strong opposition will make his players get better with international exposure. “ This tour is important for me because it helps my squad members fine tune on game plans and test match strategies as a unit,” he added.

Some of the key players on the Kenyan team include; Dhiren Murji Gondria, Pushpak Dhanjkeraio, Eugene Ochieng Odhiambo, Irfan Karim and Collins Omondi.

The two teams will also use the build-ups to prepare ahead of the Division 3 World Cricket League due in Kampala from May 21st-31st. The event will attract hosts Uganda, Canada, Oman, Malaysia, Singapore and USA.
