Kibaale police launch a manhunt for robbers who attacked traders, robbed and undressed them before disappearing in the nearby bushes. The robbers are suspected to be hiding in the villages near where the incident happened.
Suspected armed robbers on Wednesday morning attacked and robbed traders of their money and property worth millions of shillings in Kibaale District.
The robbers who were wielding what looked like a gun, machetes and clubs, ambushed traders aboard a taxi from Kagadi Town en route to Kampala at Kibambula village, Banswa sub-county, Kibaale District at around 5:00am.
Kibaale District Police Commander Patrick Ewan, who is now commanding the operation to hunt for the suspects, says two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. He declined to disclose their identity for fear of jeopardizing the investigations.
One of the victims identified as Brown Patrick, says that over six robbers blocked the road and ordered all passengers to get out. The robbers then forced some passengers to undress and hand over money and other valuable items.
Residents who rushed to call police reveal that the same robbers looted many bars and shops overnight in the area.
Police and the residents have launched a hunt for the robbers, suspected to be hiding in the nearby villages. The injured driver has been rushed to Kagadi Hospital for treatment.
