Kikuube Man Arrested for Impersonating IG

Lillian Ruteraho, the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner-RDC told Uganda Radio Network that the suspect was apprehended after he tried to extort money from teachers at Mutunguru primary school with promises of helping to get on the payroll.

A young man in Kagadi district is trouble in trouble for masquerading as an officer from the Inspectorate of Government-IGG. The suspect is Yesu-Aliyo, a resident of Igwanjura village in Kabwoya Sub County in Kikuube district.

He was arrested from Kinyarugonjo Sub County in Kagadi district on Tuesday where he was pretending to have been deployed by the IG to monitor government programs.  

Lillian Ruteraho, the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner-RDC told Uganda Radio Network that the suspect was apprehended after he tried to extort money from teachers at Mutunguru primary school with promises of helping to get on the payroll.

He is also accused of extorting money from several head teachers of Government aided primary schools to help them get promoted. She says the suspect was immediately apprehended and whisked off to Kagadi central police station.

Ruteraho says upon arrest, they didn’t find the suspect with any document from IG’s office authorising him to carry out such an illegal activity.

Ruteraho has urged the general public to always be vigilant about conmen and report them to relevant authorities.

The Kagadi District Police commander, Steven Okimar, says Yesu-Aliyo will be arraigned before court for impersonation and extortion once police investigations are complete.
