Ronald Olyet, the Officer in Charge of Bukinda police post told Uganda Radio Network that inquiries are ongoing. He says the suspects were summoned to record statements and were later released on police bond.
Kikuube police are investigating
circumstances under, which six men ganged raped a 28-year-old woman.
The incident happened on Saturday around 9am at Rwenshama
village in Kasonga parish in Kyangwali Sub County in Kikuube district.
The woman, whose identity has been withheld, told Uganda
Radio Network on Monday that she was with her husband when a gang of six men
armed with machetes, spears, bows and arrows stormed as they were preparing to
distill waragi in their garden.
She says the men, who emerged from the nearby bush,
threatened to kill her should she refuse to forcefully have sex with them.
They allegedly chased away her husband before raping her severally.

She was later rushed to Kituti Health Center for treatment. The victim’s husband
says his wife was raped by people known to him,
adding that he managed to identify some of the rapists since they committed the
crime during day time.

He says although they reported a case to police, nothing has
been done to apprehend the suspects. He says the failure of police to act has traumatized

village wonders why police hasn’t interested itself in the matter, saying this
is a capital offense that requires immediate attention.
