Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the brutal murder of the Kikuube woman.
The police in Kikuube
are actively pursuing unidentified individuals who gang-raped a woman and strangled
her to death. The victim has been identified as Provia Ninsiima, 40, a resident
of Rwenkobe village in Kaseeta parish, Kabwoya sub-county.
Reports suggest that
she went missing from her around 9 p.m. on a Sunday evening. Felix Akankwasa,
the LCI Chairperson of Rwenkobe village, told Uganda Radio Network that the
local community initiated a search for Ninsiima as soon as her disappearance
was noticed. They promptly alerted the police, who joined forces with concerned
residents to locate the missing individual.
Akankwasa revealed that the lifeless body of
the deceased was discovered on Monday evening lying within a sugar cane
plantation in the same village. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police
spokesperson, said the victim's lifeless body was retrieved and transported to
Kikuube Health Center IV for a postmortem examination. He explained that the postmortem
report shows that the woman was gang raped before being strangled to death.
Hakiza
said police had commenced a search for the suspects responsible for the brutal
murder. He urged members of the public to collaborate with the police by
providing any valuable information that could facilitate the arrest and
detention of the culprits. The deceased’s remains have been handed over to her
relatives for burial arrangements.
