Kilak North MP Injured in Motor Accident

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson has confirmed the accident, saying they have commenced investigations. By the time of filing this story, police had towed the vehicle to Kiryandongo Central police station.

The Kilak North Member of Parliament, Anthony Akol is admitted at Kiryandongo hospital following a motor accident this morning. 

Akol was injured after his Land cruiser registration number UBF 566J got a puncture and overturned several times at Kayera village in Kiryandongo district along the Gulu-Kampala high around 8:30a.m.   

 

Two other people traveling with the legislator to Kampala also sustained serious injuries. The other occupant of the vehicle has been identified as Felix Ongola, the driver of the land cruiser. 

The three were rushed to Kiryandongo hospital where they are admitted.

This is the second accident along the Gulu-Kampala high way in Kiryandongo district within a space of two days. 

On November 2, six people perished in a fatal motor accident following a head-on collision involving a bus registration number UAN 901J belonging to KKT and a UPDF truck registration number H4DF 301 along the same highway.  

In May 2018, 23 people perished in a fatal accident along Gulu-Kampala high way when a Gaaga bus registration number UAK 562 L collided with a cargo lorry registration number UAT 088 J / UAT 321 M and tractor number UAU 872 M.  

The bus traveling from Lira district to Kampala hit the tractor from its rear before it rolled and collided with an oncoming cargo lorry transporting beer. 

The incident happened in Nanda village, some 12 kilometers from Karuma Township in Nyamasha Parish in Mutunda Sub County, Kiryandongo district.

Nineteen people died on spot while three succumbed to injuries at Kiryandongo Hospital where they had been rushed for treatment.
