Kilembe Investments Ltd Granted License to Generate Electricity

Kilembe Investments ltd (KIL), a private firm has finally secured a license to supply electricity to rural areas of Kasese and Bushenyi district.
The company's managing director A.G. Mfite Basaza says that the Electricity Regulatory Authority board sat recently and resolved to award electricity distribution and sales license to Kilembe Investments ltd.
According to Basaza, the license took effect on August 1st, but the construction of the power lines begins in November. He says Kilembe investments will be able to distribute power to Bukonzo and Busongora counties of Kasese District and Kyambura and Katerera in Bunyaruguru Bushenyi District.
The 6.8 billion shilling project is targeting 3, 000 clients.
Basaza said unlike Umeme, KIL will use pre paid meters to allow people use only the power they need.
THE World Bank is to give sh5.8b to facilitate the supply of electricity to Kasese district.
