The King of Tooro Kingdom Dr. Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has appointed Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire as the new Prime Minister of the Kingdom.
The King announced on Friday during the Kingdom Parliament sitting at Muchwa Rukurato Hall in Fort Portal City.
Rwomiire who has been the Kingdom's Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Planning and Investment replaces Steven Kiyingi.
Kiyingi was appointed in August 2022 following the resignation of Bernard Tungwako.
King Oyo also appointed Henry Basaliza as the third Deputy Prime Minister.
Basaliza has been working as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom.
The new prime minister had served as the third prime minister in charge of planning and investments a position he was pointed to by Oyo in September 2024.
Harriet Nyakake remains the first deputy prime minister while Henry Basaliza has been appointed as 2nd Deputy prime minister and William Kwemara Ngabu as the 3rd Deputy prime minister.
Oyo thanked the outgoing prime minister for his contribution to the kingdom while he asked the New Prime Minister to start organising the King's kingdom tours and this year's coronation anniversary.

Omusuga Charles Kamurasi, the head of the Babito clan asked the new prime minister to create a new system with functioning structures noting that there has been a vacuum in the administration of the kingdom.

In his address, Rwomiire said he is focused on improving the image of the Tooro Kingdom and will work with all clan heads to identify community challenges and lobby for solutions.

Rwammire becomes the 11th Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister during King Oyo’s reign. The other include, Kiyingi, Steven Nyabongo, Steven Irumba, David Rusa, Apolo Karugaba, William Nyakatura, Amos Mugisa, Steven Kaliba, Benard Tungwako and John Sany Katuramu.
Basaija is a graduate of Uganda Christian University (UCU-Mukono) holding a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication.
He is a currently pursuing a fellowship in Gender Communications at Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications Nairobi, Kenya and expected to graduate in 2025.
He also boosts of numerous training's in the journalism arena.
Before joining URN, he had served as documentation support personnel, radio presenter and a news editor.
