A source close to the King who preferred anonymity told Uganda Radio Network, that Oyo requested to be off for one month to enable him travel to Fort Portal and attend to several kingdom activities.
The Omukama of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has broken off from military training to attend to the affairs of his kingdom.
In June, King Oyo enrolled for military training at Fort Kasenyi Special Forces School, Entebbe, commonly known as Kasenyi Military School.
The training school is run by the Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite force within the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) that protects the President and key installations in the country.
SFC spokesperson Major Chris Magezi says that the king is undergoing Basic Leadership Training. A source close to the King who preferred anonymity told Uganda Radio Network, that Oyo requested to be off for one month to enable him travel to Fort Portal and attend to several kingdom activities.
The source however refused to divulge the kind of activities. However, Uganda Radio Network has established that the King will next week be in Fort Portal to preside over several events in preparation for his 21st coronation anniversary commonly known as Empango. The coronation event marks Oyo's ascension to the throne.
The event will take place on September 17th in Fort Portal. Some of the activities include a surgical camp at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital, clans football tournament, agriculture and tourism exhibition. The King will also open the kingdom cabinet retreat.
Bernard Tungwako, the kingdom premier confirmed that they expect King Oyo at the palace in the coming days.
King Oyo's last appearance in the kingdom was in June, a week after he had enrolled for the training. Oyo, who was presiding over the election of members of the Kingdom Parliament, the Orukurato, appeared to have lost some weight as a result of the training.
He ascended to the throne on September 9, 1995 at the age of three following the death, two weeks earlier, of his father, Patrick Olimi Kaboyo. He is the 12th ruler of the 180- year-old kingdom.
