Emin Pasha was born Eduard Schnitzer into a Germano-Jewish family in 1840,  in what is now the southern Polish city of Opole, but the family moved to Neisse, now Nysa.

After completing his studies as a physician, Pasha worked as a doctor in various parts of the Ottoman Empire before moving on to Egypt and Khartoum, North Sudan, then south to Uganda's Bunyoro area where he was employed by British colonial powers as an administrator”, .

Nysa city official, Michal Baziuk, told the polish local media this week that his office has received a letter in which King Gafabusa is asking the authorities to help him delve into the past of his grandfather, who is known as Eduard Schnitzer.

Baziuk says Nysa officials have begun researching the issue and have invited King Solomon Iguru I to visit his grandfather's hometown.
