Kiplangat Confirms His Debut at 2024 Tokyo Marathon

Uganda's top long-distance runner, Victor Kiplangat, is gearing up for his first marathon debut of the year. The 2023 Full Marathon (42 kilometers) World Champion is currently in training in Kapchorwa under the guidance of his Dutch coach, Addy Ruiter, in preparation for the Marathon scheduled for March 3, 2024, in Tokyo, Japan.

Kiplangat aims to have his body in peak condition by late February, anticipating strong competition from elite athletes at the event, including Kenya's Marathon icon, Eliud Kipchoge, who has also confirmed participation. Kiplangat sees this Marathon debut as a crucial step in his preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in August, where he aims for a podium finish.

"This race is important to me ahead of the highly anticipated Olympic Games, where I am also eyeing a podium finish," says Kiplangat. Addy Ruiter, Kiplangat's coach, highlights the athlete's dedicated marathon training schedule, expressing optimism that Kiplangat will be well-prepared to compete by the end of February.

Brian Sabila, one of Kiplangat’s fans, applauds his decision to run alongside Kipchoge, seeing it as an inspirational move. The upcoming Marathon in Tokyo is not only a significant race for Kiplangat individually but also a key stepping stone toward his Olympic aspirations.
