Ugandas Jacob Kiplimo won a bronze medal in the final of the 10,000m race last night at the on-going 2016 World Junior Championship in Bydoszcz, Poland.

Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo won a bronze medal in the final of the 10,000m race last night at the on-going 2016 World Junior Championship in Bydoszcz, Poland.

The youngster who also qualified for the Olympic Games set a personal best time of 27:26:68 at the Zawisza Stadium.

Kenya's Rodgers Chumo Kwemoi won the race with a time of 27:25:23, while Eritrea's Aron Kifle settled for second place. “We are very happy that Kiplimo has had a good run ahead of the Olympics next month,” Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) President, Dominic Otuchet told URN on Wednesday morning.

Martin Musau, Uganda's second runner in the race settled for 8th place, while the Ethiopian duo of Amedework Walelegn and Gizachew Hailu finished fourth and fifth respectively.

On Wednesday another Ugandan runner Esther Chebet will tussle it out in the 800m heats.

Mercyline Chelangat who won a 5,000m bronze medal in Tanzania in May during the Eastern Africa Junior Athletics Championship, Albert Chemutai, Victor Kiplagat and Peruth Chemutai will be the other Ugandan runners to watch.
