Youngster Jacob Kiplimo continued with his good form when he won the Cross Internacional de Itálica in Santiponce, near the Spanish city of Seville on Sunday.

Kiplimo finished with a time of 27:48 to beat world double commonwealth gold medalist and fellow Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei to second place. Cheptegei finished the 9.9km run with a time of 28:04.

“I decided to run conservatively for the first half of the race, then I changed the pace and felt great until the end,” said the 18-year old Kiplimo after the race.

On his part Cheptegei said he was happy with the away he run considering that he is just getting back to fitness after being off for over two months with injury.

“I have come here after a one-week stint in Monte Gordo (Portugal); I know I'm only at about 85% at the moment but I'll now return to Uganda and hope to be at my best for the World Cross,” he added.

In the women's category (9.1km) Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech clocked 28:01 to finish top, while Uganda's Commonwealth Games gold medalist Stella Chesang was second with a time of 28:35 and Turkey's Yasemin Can in third place.
