The colourful ceremony was held at the Jinja Crested Crane Hotel. Kiprotich, who presided over the ceremony as chief guest, described Jinja as his favourite Ugandan town.
Uganda Olympics Gold Medalist Stephen Kiprotich on Friday graced Jinja Town during the celebrations to mark the World Tourism Day for Jinja district. The colourful ceremony was held at the Jinja Crested Crane Hotel.
Kiprotich, who presided over the ceremony as chief guest, described Jinja as his favourite Ugandan town. He said he had pleasant memories of the town when he used to come and run in Bugembe stadium during the national championships.

In his speech, the Mayor of Jinja Hajji Muhammed Baswari Kezaala urged all Ugandans to make it their duty to promote tourism.

Meanwhile the Principal of Jinja Crested Crane Hotel and Tourism Training Institute Miria Namutosi Mamori told reporters they organized the celebration to bring home to the people of Jinja the importance of tourism sector.
