“I am preparing well ahead of this event because I want to maintain my good form,” the triple Commonwealth Games gold medalist told URN on phone.

He will face other top runners like Tsegaye Kebede, Atsedu Tsegay (Ethiopia) and the Kenyan duo of Jackson Kiprop and Edwin Kiptoo. The winner of the race will bag UGX93 million (US$27,000), while the runner-up takes UGX69 million (US$20,000).

Kipsiro also explained that he is contemplating moving to the road races. He explained that after running in 5,000 and 10,000m runs where he has won several medals over a period of time he thinks it's time to get a new challenge.

Last month Kipsiro proved a point when he won the Freat South Run in Portsmouth, England.

Kipsiro who made his first senior international appearance at the 2005 World Championships in the 5000m also won gold medals at the 2017 and 2011 All Africa Games in Algeria and Mozambique respectively.

Former World Steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru is also another Ugandan who  announced this year that she is switching to road races.
