The Kira Municipal Mayor, Julius Mutebi survived the wrath of angry Boda boda motorcyclists Thursday afternoon when he annulled the elections of the Byeyogerere Boda boda leadership.

The elections were organised by the Kira municipality led by the mayor to resolve the Boda boda leadership conflicts in Bweyogerere division.

However, the hundreds of riders who turned up for the polls at Namboole International stadium became chaotic after suspecting that the elections wouldn’t be free and fair.

They blamed Mutebi for harboring and supporting interests in Badru Sinan who was in contest with Suleiman Kintu.

Amidst a barrage of insults from the angry riders, Mutebi called off the polls to the chagrin of the riders.

Mutebi and other Municipality officials were saved by Namboole security team and LDU’s who drove them away as the riders threatened to attack them.

Sinan’s supporters commended the mayor of calling off the election saying Kintu’s camp had ferried in none voters from Mukono yet the election was meant for Bweyogerere cyclists.

Kintu group left Namboole vowing that their candidate had won anonymously and they’re going to enthrone him at their offices in Bweyogerere trading center.

Efforts to get a comment from Mutebi about the annulled elections were futile as he couldn’t pick calls from our reporter.
