Stolen Kisoro Baby Recovered in Mukono

A four months old baby who was stolen from Kisoro district two month ago has been recovered in Mukono district. The four months Gerard Nshimiye was recovered from Kyampisi village in Kyabakade parish in Nagalama sub-county in Mukono district on Sunday.

He was found with Betty Murekatete who stole him from Claude Harerimana and his wife, Monica Dusabe in Nyamwirima Village in Kisoro municipality on July 12th, 2018.

The suspect disappeared with the baby when it was left under her care. Dusabe says she waited for Murekatete to return with the baby in vain prompting her to file a case at Kisoro police station under SD 58/12/07/18.

Naikeasa says Ssemogerere became suspicious when he saw the suspect with a baby yet she was never seen with a pregnancy and reported the matter to police.

Harerimana couldn't hold back his joy following the recovery of his son, saying he had lost hope of getting after Murekatete rang him on phone and wondered why he had such a very handsome baby boy whom she doesn't have.

Ely Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says Murekatete is locked up at Kisoro Police Station police station for questioning following her transfer from Mukono. He says they conduct medical examinations on the child to ascertain his health status before handing him to his parents.

Maate also hails the crime preventer for being alert and reporting to police the suspect. He asks members of the public to emulate the crime preventer if such criminals are to be brought to book and charged accordingly.
