Ocaya, who is suspected of killing his wife and three children, was found unconscious in the newly constructed Anglican church in the neighboring Pachua Pakuba village on Tuesday evening.
Kitgum police are holding Francis Ocaya, the man accused of committing a gruesome murder of a family of four in Mucwini West Sub-county on Monday night. Ocaya, who is suspected of killing his wife and three children, was found unconscious in the newly constructed Anglican church in the neighboring Pachua Pakuba village on Tuesday evening.
He critically injured another child from Tepwoyo West Village. The injured child is currently receiving treatment at Kitgum General Hospital. Peter Oyesigye, the Kitgum District Police Commander, stated that the motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear.
"We are still investigating the motive behind the murder, but we believe Ocaya's arrest is a significant step toward bringing closure to the family and the community," Oyesigye said. Ocaya was found unconscious in the church, with an empty bottle of altar wine found beside him. Police suspect he may have ingested a chemical substance used for killing insects before breaking into the church.
He was rushed to Kitgum Government Hospital, where he is currently under police guard. "The medics are working tirelessly to ensure that he recovers, and once he is stable, he will face justice for his crimes," Oyesigye added.
According to Oyesigye, the arrest of Ocaya brings relief to the community and local leaders, who were shaken by the brutal murder of the family. He confirmed that police are waiting for Ocaya to recover before bringing him to justice for his actions.
