William Komakech, the Kitgum Resident District Commissioner is starting his weekend a very happy man following the arrest of the most wanted gang leader in his district. He identifies the suspect as Commander Oloya, a resident of Koch Gomah Parish in Labongo Amida Sub County.
According to Komakech, the suspect was picked up in a Kampala suburb and is due to be transferred to Kitgum. He says Commander Oloya has been behind the establishment of a ruthless gang of five hardcore criminals, who have been giving security sleepless nights in East Acholi.

Komakech says two of the gang members were earlier on picked up from their hide out in Masindi district following a robbery in Kitgum. He asked the other gang members to surrender voluntarily to security.

Last week, a police officer attached to Kitgum high school Police out post recovered an AK47 rifle that was stolen from security guard in Kitgum town from an assailant who targeted his gun.
The weapon was later found without ammunition. Jackson Baryampika, the Kitgum District Police Commander, says they recorded 331 criminal cases in the last three months. They included 80 cases of theft 28 robberies and 11 murders.
The news of Oloya's arrest has caused excitement in Kitgum town. Joseph Ocheng, a boda boda taxi operator says he traces the theft of two motorcycles to the gang.
