Teachers in Kotido municipality have gone for two months with pay. Mario Aryon, the Chairperson Kotido Head teachers Association, says the failure to pay the teachers for the months of January and February has demoralized them.

Jimmy Mathew Ochen, the Head teacher Panyanngara Primary school, says most teachers are threatening to lay down their tools unless the receive their pay.
According to Ochen, some of the teachers have turned to petty jobs to raise money to look after their families because of the delayed payment of their salaries.

Angello Lowari, the Kotido Municipal Education Officer has confirmed the delayed payment of the teachers. He however, told URN on Friday that the town clerk, Emmanuel Ofwono was in Kampala to follow up on the matter.
He appealed to the teachers to remain calm as management works around the clock to there was a wage shortfall following the creation of Kotido Municipal Council, which saw some schools such as Panyangara Primary School, Kotido Girls Primary School, Panyangra SS Mary Mother of God Primary School Kotido SS fall in the municipality.
This raised the wage bill. Emmy Ngorok, the Human Resource Officer, Kotido Municipality, says they have submitted a supplementary budget for approval to cater for the education staff from the institutions that were included into Kotido Municipal Council.
