Kotido's Only Ambulance Involved in An Accident

Kotido General Hospital after one of its ambulances was involved in an accident on Sunday morning in Lopeei sub County with a patient on board.

The ambulance registration Number UAY 273 Y was transporting a mother who had developed complications after giving birth. The patient had reportedly having uncontrolled bleeding.

The mother was being transported to Matany Hospital for specialized medical attention due to the severity of her condition.

Also in the ambulance was a newly born baby, a midwife , an attendant,  two others, including the driver. 

Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but the victims were swiftly transported to Matany Hospital for medical care.   

According to reports, the mother' was still a critical condition, while the other passengers were stabilizing.   This incident has left Kotido General Hospital without a functional ambulance, severely impacting its ability to respond to emergency referrals.   

This is not an isolated incident; another ambulance attached to Kacheri HC III has been out of operation since the 14th of November 2024, after an accident. It was on its way from Lacor Hospital in Gulu.   

The damaged ambulance is currently at the Lacek-ocot police outpost, awaiting assessment for potential repairs.   

Efforts to reach hospital authorities and district authorities for comment were unsuccessful, as their known phone numbers went unanswered.
