Police in Kwania District have launched an investigation into the death of a 30-year-old man, Jasper Awet, whose body was discovered in Arocha swamp in Aduku Town Council along the Lira-Apac Highway.
Awet, a resident of Angule Village, Abany Parish in Abongomola Sub-County, was found lifeless on Wednesday by casual laborers working on the highway. According to Jimmy Uhuru, the LCI Chairman of Aduku Township Cell, Awet was on his way to a marriage ceremony in Akot Trading Center when the incident occurred.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the deceased might have been attacked by the magical powers of a Butaleja-based witchdoctor who had performed rituals in the area the previous day. These rituals were reportedly intended to recover stolen cattle.
