Kyaggwe County Wants LDU Camp Off Kawolo Ggombolola Headquarters’ Premises

Katende says the entire place requires maintenance since it has grown bushy and most of the buildings covered with dust. He also says the sub county demonstrational garden comprising coffee and bananas seated on an acre also requires serious weeding but the king’s subjects charged with the responsibility are currently restricted from the area.

The Kyaggwe County Head (Ssekiboobo) Elijah Bogeere Lubanga Mulembya has ordered the Buikwe Local Defense Unit commandant to evacuate LDU camp from Kawolo sub county (Ggombolola) headquarter premises for threatening the Kingdom officials.

LDU personnel pitched camp at the sub county premises located at Lugazi Municipality three year back. However, according to Kawolo sub county chief (Muchwa Mituba VII) John Katende, since few people were turning up to access their offices due to covid-19, LDUs set up more temporary structures including grass thatched huts and a check point they are currently using to limit people trying to access the place.

Katende says the entire place requires maintenance since it has grown bushy and most of the buildings covered with dust. He also says the sub county demonstrational garden comprising coffee and bananas seated on an acre also requires serious weeding but the king’s subjects charged with the responsibility are currently restricted from the area.

Katende reveals that the sub county headquarters are used to plan for the rest of the parishes and villages within the sub county. It is a meeting place for parishes and village officials besides accommodating offices among others Ggombolola chief, secretary, culture, investments, environment and agriculture.

One of the sub county officials Joram Mubiru says they have no idea how LDUs accessed their premises, revealing that they would not be challenged with their presence but their disappointing conduct.

Mulembya says LDUs at the checkpoint attempted to stop him from accessing the premises despite introducing himself to them. He wonders if they cannot not respect the county head what about King’s subjects and officials staying within Kawolo sub county.

“They should vacate the place until terms of occupancy are agreed upon together with their commandants, for this is a traditional place with a lot of historical attachments in the Kingdom,” Mulembya notes.

The Buikwe LDU Commandant Henry Mukasa has declined to talk about the matter saying he will have to first discuss it with his superiors.

The Buikwe Resident District Commissioner-RDC Jane Francis Kagayi has advised Ssaza officials to write to her office in case there is any misunderstanding to find amicable solution.
