Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, the President of the National Unity Platform-NUP has asked his party supporters not to misuse social media.

Speaking on Friday at the new party headquarters at Makerere Kavule in Kampala, Kyagulanyi, said social media has democratized the freedom of speech however many have misused it by insulting other people they don’t agree with hence tarnishing the party’s image.

//Cue in…mukozese social media

Cue out…are leading too,”//

Kyagulanyi also asked his party supporters not to focus on the 2026 general elections but rather continue pushing to end President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s near 40-year rule.

//Cue in…brothers and sisters

Cue out…without being formal,”//

Luganda

//Cue in…njagala mwenna abatyambye

Cue out…tekajja kukuyamba,”//

Kyagulanyi made the remarks while welcoming a number of new members from other political parties who have joined his party. The majority of those who joined have been members of the Democratic Party and Forum for Democratic Change from across the country.

Kyagulanyi said they would welcome anybody from these political parties after their leaders veered off the rail of fighting to end the NRM rule.

The Democratic Party President Norbert Mao is now a Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister in Museveni’s government while the leadership of FDC is headed by Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Nathan Nandala Mafabi has been accused by the Katonga faction headed by Erias Lukwago of also working with Museveni.

Kyagulanyi called upon the old members to welcome the new members because it’s when they are together that they can end Museveni’s rule. “It’s is a good thing to still have people you have been working with when we were starting this party. But I want to tell you, that it doesn’t matter when one joins, all of us are equal as members in this party,” Kyagulanyi said.

He added that even other non-members of NUP are welcome to the new party headquarters as long as they are part of those seeking to bring about change in the country.
