Examinations got underway at Kyambogo University on Monday morning despite the arrest of senior university officials and lecturers last week. Last week, the Inspectorate of Government picked up several Kyambogo university officials for alleged abuse of office and Conflict of Interest. They include Prof. John Okedi, Chairman, Kyambogo University Council, Prof. Dr. J. Opuda-Asibo, Acting Vice Chancellor, Sam Akorimo – University Secretary, Ham Mungyereza – Bursar and Dr. Wilfred Nahamya, Lecturer.
Others are Daniel Ndawula, Lecturer, Christine and Obonyo Kyayonka, the Deputy Registrar admission. The arrest of the officials caused panic, with some people fearing it could affect the end of semester exams that were scheduled to start today. When Uganda Radio Network visited the University, first year students were sitting for their papers as other students were lining up at their respective faculty offices to clear their fees to start sitting next week. A first year student from the faculty of special needs education faulted the University administration for drawing students into the administrative clashes.
The student explained to URN that it was the second time he was being made to walk to get someone to acknowledge receipt of his fees cheque. Earlier on Lawrence Madete, the Kyambogo University spokesperson explained that Prof. Fabian Nabugwomu had been appointed to oversee the operations at the university. He explained that about 3323 students affected by the fees scam have been allowed to sit their examinations.

Cue out: …survive.”//
He however, explained that the students would only be allowed in the examination rooms if they have proof showing that they had paid tuition for semester one two, they must register with the registrar of faculties, and identification showing that they are students of Kyambogo University.
Meanwhile members of University council who were arrested were released on bond on Saturday but are expect to appear on Tuesday in the anti-corruption court.
