Clan leaders opposed to the leadership of the legitimate Lango Paramount chief Yosam Odur are protesting the allocation of two acres of land by Lira district administration to the Chiefdom.
The land in question measuring two acres is located along Boroboro road, behind Lira military barrack, at Lango Cultural centre, in Lira town.
Lira district local government last week allocated the two acres of land to Lango Cultural Foundation-under the leadership of Odur for the construction of a palace by the government.
But rival clan heads loyal to Charles Olet, the parallel paramount chief, are questioning the criteria used by the district local government to chose Paramount chief Yosam Odur, as the custodian of the land.
On Friday, Juraba-bwel Opio Okori, the head of Adok-Oyengowoo clan, who is loyal to the rival faction says the land should be titled in the name of Tekwaro Lango (Lango Cultural Institution) but not Lango Cultural Foundation which is headed by Odur.
Beine Ochan, the Prime Minister in the rival faction objected the decision saying it only serves to promote disunity and flare dispute between the factions.
Ochan, also the head of Atek-okwerowee clan says the district could have handed over the land to their faction since they are the majority.
The group wants the District leadership to allocate the land to both factions.
Lira district Chairperson, Alex Oremo Alot, said the land titled will be made in the name of Lango Cultural Foundation, which is legitimate and recognised by the government and handed over to Yosam Odu,r who is constitutionally recognised.
Speaker Lira district Martin Ocen Odyek, said they have now delinked themselves from the confusion by accepting to handover the land to Lango Cultural Foundation under Odur.
