LC III Chairperson in Trouble Over OWC Heifer

Godfrey Masaba, the OWC Officer in Sironko District, says they received from the office of the Resident District Commissioner indicating that Wadoba connived with the LC III Chairperson to sell off the animal he received a month ago.

Labani Wanyala, the LC III Chairperson of Masaba Sub County in Sironko District is in trouble for his alleged involvement in the sale of a heifer belonging to the Operation Wealth Creation-OWC program.  

He is accused of conniving with a beneficiary of the OWC program, Rogers Wadoba to sell off a heifer allocated to him.   

Godfrey Masaba, the OWC Officer in Sironko District, says they received from the office of the Resident District Commissioner indicating that Wadoba connived with the LC III Chairperson to sell off the animal he received a month ago.   

According to Masaba, the RDC instructed police to work with them to apprehend the culprits and recover the animal. 

He explained they conducted an operation and recovered the cow from the home of Gambwa leading to the arrest of the chairperson and Wadoba.

He says that Wadoba didn’t have a crawl when he was given the animal, which prompted him to take it to his neighbor’s home for safe custody. 

A police officer who declined to be named confirmed the duo’s arrest, saying they will appear in court once police investigations are complete.  

OWC is a government program aimed at boosting household incomes through improved farming.
