Lightning has struck dead a 45-year-old woman and left five
others injured in Nyabubare Sub County –Bushenyi district.
Generous Kyomuhangi Busesire a resident of Nkuna I Village in
Nyabubare Parish –Nyabubare Sub County died on Wednesday.
Karori Rwamuganga, the LCIII Chairperson for Nyabubare Sub County
said that the deceased together with five others had sought shelter at their
home when they were struck by lightning.
He says that the injured were rushed to Kampala International Hospital
in Ishaka for treatment.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson says
that the injured were working on a farm and took shelter at a nearby house when
it started raining.
Lightning strikes are common in Bushenyi district. In June five people
were struck dead and 25 injured during a downpour in Nyakatembe village
in Bitooma sub-county, Bushenyi district. Cases of strikes are also common in
the neighbouring districts of Mitooma,Buhweju, Sheema and Rubirizi.
