The Lira Market covid-19 task force has acknowledged difficulties in enforcing many of the standard Operating Procedures by the Ministry of Health.

The traders are finding difficulty in wearing face masks or installing sanitisers or water stands at shops and stalls.

On Monday, the market was partially closed to create order since the traders and their customers were not following the SOPs. The task force led by the market Chairperson Basil Edwoku resolved that anyone entering the market must put on a mask, wash hands and sanitize at the entrance.

William Apea, a member of the task force is worried that the covid-19 cases could be high in the market since the traders and customers have failed to adhere to the guidelines. He says that many people cannot afford the cost of masks, sanitisers and soap and many of the people breaking the guidelines are pushed to the edge by financial struggles and hardships.
