Manshur Suwed, the Central North regional police spokesperson, said the boys' dormitory had been very poorly built and not fit for human habitation. Kings Comprehensive College, a privately owned learning facility in Lira town has closed two days after the collapse of its students' dormitory.

The boys' dormitory housing about 80 vocational students collapsed over the weekend injuring three students. Located in Obangapewany village near Lumumba trading Centre, along Lira-Soroti highway, the School has been operational for a period of two years.

It was however closed on a directive from the Resident District Commissioner George Odongo upon his observation that the facility did not possess a license from the ministry of education.  It was also operating in appalling conditions, Odongo stated.

At the time of the closure, the over 200 students were uncontrolled as the school authorities went into hiding after the incident, Odong adds.
