Lira Timber Traders Petition Security Minister over Kidnapped Child.

In a letter dated 3rd May 2021, Moses Achobi the chairperson of the association asked the Ministry to send their experts to investigate the matter since the community are not satisfied with the way the case is being handled.

The Chairperson Lira United Timber Dealers Association has written to the Minister of Security to give support in the recovery of a child who went missing earlier in April.

Since the disappearance, the Lira City Security team under the leadership of the Resident City Commissioner promised to find the child.However, up to now there is no development in tracing the whereabouts of the toddler  and the family members says they are now helpless.

In a letter dated 3rd May 2021, Moses Achobi the chairperson of the association asked the Ministry to send their experts to investigate the matter since the community are not satisfied with the way the case is being handled.

“It is unfortunate that a poor woman toiling to feed her family lost her child under those circumstances, yet this is a matter of high public concern and the timber yard business community live under constant fear of their children being abducted,” the letter reads in part.

He went on: “It is important that you take note of this as government and intervene by sending more experts could be both military and police intelligence from Kampala to recover the child, whether dead or alive.”

On the 4th of April 2021 Elizabeth Akello, a 3-year-old girl went missing under unclear circumstance leaving the population with anger.

Two suspects were later arrested to aid with investigation and case of child abduction was registered against them under CRB/375/2021.

They were later paraded before the Grade One magistrate's court where the duo was remanded up to 4th June.
