John Kashaka Muwanguzi, the permanent secretary minister of Local government has directed Kamuli Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Amal to immediately swear in the rejected LC V vice chairman. Thomas Kategere was nominated by Ahmed Kawugu Kawooya Mugaino, Kamuli LC V chairman as his vice but he was rejected thrice by the district council.

As a result, Amal wrote to the solicitor general seeking legal advice of the matter and a way forward. In his letter to Amal dated June 05, Muwanguzi orders her to immediately swear in Kategere without wasting time. According to Muwanguzi, Kategere has a lot of work to do and deliver services to the electorate saying that he should be installed immediately.

In the same letter, Muwanguzi also tasks Kawooya, Kamuli LC V chairman to constitute his district executive committee by nominating secretaries for the approval by the council forthwith. He has accordingly directed the CAO to give him a progressive report on the matter within two weeks without fail.

Councilors of Kamuli district council rejected Kategera citing his integrity after he was implicated in a corruption scandal. Kategere has welcomed the letter of Muwanguzi calling for his immediate swearing in. He has called on fellow councilors and entire community to bury their hatchets and work for the good of the district.
