LOP: Kasibante Will Remain COSASE Vice Chairperson

The Leader of Opposition in Parliament has insisted that Moses Kasibante, will serve as Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authority and State Enterprise-(COSASE).

On Tuesday, the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga rejected the appointment of Kasibante as the Vice Chairperson of COSASE and instead allocated him the appointments committee.

Last year, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President, Patrick Amuriat Oboi dropped the Bugweri County MP Abdu Katuntu as COSASE Chairperson replacing him with Mubarak Munyagwa the Kawempe South MP.

According to the Parliament's rule of procedure 157 (4), independent members of parliament apply to the Clerk of Parliament to join committees of their choice.

Kasibante says he has not written to the Clerk of Parliament wishing to be a member of the appointments committee.

He says the Speaker should follow what the rules of procedure.
