A Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebel has surrendered to government forces in Gulu district.

Lieutenant Vincent Otto handed over himself to UPDF soldiers today, at Wiceri army base in Pabbo sub county, Kilak County, located at the border between the districts of Gulu and Adjumani.

He confessed to army officers, that he was part of the group that was operating inside Murchison falls national Park. He has been heading a group of 5 other rebel fighters who did not surrender.

Lieutenant Chris Magezi the regional military spokesman says Otto surrendered due to pressure exerted on him by the mobile UPDF soldiers, who are still combing Murchison falls National Park.

The spokesman says the rebels operating in the park are left with very few firearms and rounds of ammunition.

Recently, the over all leader of the LRA fighters in the park, Major Thomas Opiyo handed himself over to UPDF soldiers in the West Nile region of Nebbi district.
