An eye witness only identified as Alex told detectives at Old Kampala police station that the argument started after the deceased asked the suspect for his balance in vain saying that he had stolen the money resulting into a fight.

Police Station is holding a chapatti maker accused of stabbing his customer to
death in a heated disagreement over Shillings 500. The suspect is Ronald
Nsabimana, a resident of Lusanze Zone in Lubaga Division, a Kampala city suburb.
He allegedly
stabbed to death 17-year-old Torres Kalungi, a resident of the same area. Trouble
started after Nsabimana declined to give Kalungi his balance of Shillings 500
after handing him Shillings 2000 for a Rolex-Chapati rolled with eggs.
It took the
intervention of the police to save Nsabimana from angry the wrath of any mob members
who attacked him. He is currently receiving treatment at Mulago National
Referral Hospital on handcuffs.
“We are
charging him with murder as the investigations into this incident continue,”
Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson told URN
this morning.

only heard Kalungi asking him the balance and the man refused and continued
asking where he heard got the money. Kalungi grabbed something around and ran
away. Nsabimana chased him a few meters and they started fighting. We shortly
after heard Kalungi shouting loud and went running only to find him bleeding,”
said Alex.
The deceased
mother, Harriet Namujuzi, says that they rushed him to Mengo Hospital where he
was pronounced dead around 9:00 pm. “I was preparing tea at around 9:00 PM some children came running and shocked me with the news of the stabbing
my son that someone had killed my son in a fight," said Namujuzi.

Isaac Kiyimba, the area LC I Chairperson, says the suspect is part of drug
addicts in the area that sometimes terrorizes the area.
“We have a serious problem with groups
of youth who are drug addicts and now even school children who at homes have
started joining them, some have now started participating in criminal acts of
stealing and killing people. This Ronald is part of the groups,” said Kyimba.
According to
the crime report, 3,316 cases of murder were reported to Police in 2019
compared to 3,186 in 2018. Among these were cases of murder resulting
from assault/beating, strangulation, stabbing and hacking. Of these 284 people
were killed by stabbing.
