Government has vowed to act decisively against instigators of the riots in Kampala, which claimed the lives of three people on Thursday.
The Minister of Information and National Guidance, Kirunda Kivejinja, told the media in Kampala firm action will be taken against those behind the murder of an Indian national and two Ugandan men, as well as those who incited violence against Indian business premises and places of worship.
Kivejinja accused the Member of Parliament for Kitgum, Beatrice Atim and her Save the Mabira Crusade of disregarding the directions of the police on how to proceed with the demonstration both before and during the procession. He said they incited the public to lawlessness that led to the unnecessary death and injury of people.
Kivejinja said Government will not allow anybody to distrupt the country or to take away its peace.

According to police accounts, when the crowd of demonstrators was blocked from marching through the city through Kampala Road, it resisted the police and split into several groups. One of the groups raided William Streets and adjourning roads, attacking traders of Asian origin.
At the junction of the Entebbe and Ggaba Roads, a mob attempted to stop a Kenyan student of Asian origin identified as Mohammed Ahmed Ashad, forcing him off the road. He accidentally hit a pavement, seriously injuring himself and two people. The police took the two injured
