Joram Kinuge, the Secretary for Works says they embarked on routine maintenance
on the road following the public outcry over the impassability of the road.
Kinuge says that the road will be fully rehabilitated under the UgandaSupport to Municipal Infrastructure
Development- USMID program.

According to the Fort Portal City Principal Engineer Herbert Kaihura, the
works have been contracted to the China Railway 18 Company Limited.
Edison Asaba Ruyonga, the City Mayor attributed the delays of the road works to
inadequate funding from the Central government.
Busobozi says that the works are a sigh of relief. He says that due to the poor
state of the road, accidents along the road were also becoming rampant while
during rainy seasons it becomes impassable.
Amon Birungi says the rehabilitation of the road is timely owing to
the threats the road has been posing to the life of the users. Birungi also says some Boda Boda cyclists overcharge
him when he is transporting merchandise from Fort Portal town to his shop
because of the bad road.
