Retired Major John Bashaija Kazoora has been elected the FDC Mobilization, Information and Publicity Secretary for Mbarara district.

Although voted in absentia, Kazoora, the former Member of Parliament for Kashari County, beat two other contenders John Tinbyetaho and Isreal Kazooba.

Amon Rubarema the FDC chairperson for Rwampara County who proposed and campaigned for kazoora at the FDC party district elections said the party needs such strong cadres for its sustainability.

Rubarema adds that electing Kazoora to the post will enhance his chances of challenging the NRM candidate in Mbarara municipality where he intends to contest for a parliamentary seat in 2016. Kazoora contested for the same seat in 2011 and lost to Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo Bitekyerezo.

Major Kazoora has not yet commented on his election to the post.

But Stanley Katembeya, the Mbarara district FDC party chairperson says the choice is a milestone in their struggles to oust the NRM ruling Government from power.
