Namuwaya was awarded alongside the newly-crowned Miss World Africa 2018, Quinn Abenakyo, for her achievement and for carrying Makerere University flag high. Abenakyo graduated with a second class upper bachelors degree in Business Computing. In an interview with URN, Abenakyo said it was an honor graduating from the best university in the country and the region.
Makerere University Convocation has awarded Hajarah Namuwaya Ali, the overall best student during the 69th graduation.
Namuwaya obtained a CGPA of 4.94 in a Bachelor's Degree of Business Computing of Makerere University Business School –MUBS.
Namuwaya attributes her success to determination, dedication and hard-work.

Her mother Sarah Zawedde thanked her daughter for concentrating on her books and emerging as the best student.

Muhammad Ali, Namuwaya's father, said the respect that her daughter has brought to him is immeasurable. He says he had wanted Namuwaya to study law but she refused and allowed her to do a course of her choice.
Day three of the 69th graduation at Makerere comprised of students from Makerere University Business School –MUBS where 3,644 graduated with Bachelors, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Five (5) graduated with PhDs.
