Police in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb on Sunday arrested, Winston
Nabireba, suspected of slitting the throat of his one-year son, Rodman
Nabireba is a resident of Soweto Cell, Namuwongo, Makindye Division, in Kampala
City. Police said Akankwasa was found lying dead in a pool of blood about 4 pm
but his father had already fled the scene.
Residents and police mounted a hunt for the father until he was apprehended and
dragged to Kisugu Police Station.
Deputy Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said Nabireba was a barber in the
area and is highly suspected to have slit his son’s throat for unknown reasons.
“We have information that Winstone Nabireba is suspected to have killed his one
and half year-old son Rodman. We got information that Nabireba killed his son
by cutting him. We got a knife we suspect he used to kill the child,” Namaye
Namaye said Nabireba was found in a critical and looked like he had tried to commit
suicide. Police said detectives have been deployed to keep watch of Nabireba who
was rushed to Mulago hospital to receive treatment since his life was in a

Nabireba’s arrest came on the same day after police in Bugiri district arrested
six people in connection to the murder of, Okalo Okisham, a male Juvenile aged
Namaye identified the suspects in Okisham arrest as Scovia Ajambo, 32, Majidu
Mugenyi, Adam Kawanguzi, Hassan Mukama, Badru Mutanda and Juma Igaga Juma.
