The Police in Lamwo district have arrested three people for allegedly beating a 20-year-old boy to death in Palabek Abera Sub-county.

Joe Oloya, the Aswa East Regional Public Relations Officer, says that the deceased, identified as Alfred Nyeko, was accused of stealing two phones, from Pawena Trading Center in Palabek Abera Sub-county, Lamwo District.

Oloya revealed that Nyeko's father Jimmy Komakech, and two others reportedly arrested Nyeko after he was found with two phones. They tied and beat him with sticks until he succumbed to his injuries.

"We have arrested three suspects, including the father of the deceased, Jimmy Komakech, Ken Ocan, and Richard Odokonyero. They are currently detained at Lamwo Central Police Station, and a case of murder has been brought against them," Oloya said.

One suspect is still on the run, and police are working to apprehend them.

Oloya condemned how the deceased was treated, saying it was unacceptable and against the law saying the suspects would face the law.

"We urge the public to report any incidents of crime to the police and avoid taking the law into their own hands. Vigilantism is not acceptable and can lead to serious consequences," Oloya said.
