The Police in Kiira region are hunting for a 65-year-old man, Sabasi Byakika, for allegedly killing his wife Deborah Naigaga.

Naigaga, 60, sustained deep cuts in the head and neck areas leading to over bleeding.  Her body was found lying in her bedroom by neighbors, who became suspicious, after noticing the family dog loitering around the house.

Byakika, a resident of Buwala A village, in Butagaya sub-county, in Jinja district is reported to have killed his wife at around 7:30 am, before fleeing.

Residents in the area say that Byakika has been accusing Naigaga of infidelity. They add that a meeting aimed at reconciling the two was held on Sunday.

Joanita Namukuve, a resident within the area says that church leaders, alongside elders within their community, organized counseling sessions aimed at reconciling the couple in vain.

“I and my husband were among the selected elders who teamed up with the church leaders to ensure that peace prevails in Byakika’s household, however, over time, their fights became recurrent and we gave up,” she says.
