A man in Rukungiri has been arrested by the Police in connection with the death of his two and a half years old son.
The arrest of Herbert Turinawe (27) follows the discovery of his son's decomposing body barely two weeks after he went missing.
Akanyijuka Darius went missing from his father’s house. Turinawe claimed that his son had gone to live with his estranged wife.
Today, however, residents were alerted to where Akanyijuka's body had been buried by village dogs which dug him up. He was found near a path in Kikongyi, Bwambara Sub County.
Akanyijuka's body had been rolled into a polythene bag and buried on his father's land.
The locals led by Kamusiime Alfred reported the matter to the police before they moved in to arrest the father.
Kigezi regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate says that they decided to arrest Turinawe after he failed to explain how his body came to be buried on his land.
Maate says that it is unfortunate cases of relatives killing each other are on the rise in the area and calls upon those in distress to always seek counselling.
