Man in Entebbe Jailed 15 Years For Robbery

Kaweesi was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen car, a white Spacio number UAV 869M belonging to Madhusi Olubora at a garage in Ndeeba. "Also, at 27 years of age, there is hope that the convict can reform," Justice Kwesiga added.
The High Court in Entebbe has sentenced Jaludi Kaweesi to 15 years in jail for robbery.

Kaweesi was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen car, a white Spacio number UAV 869M belonging to Madhusi Olubora at a garage in Ndeeba.

The prosecution says that Kaweesi and two other people robbed Olubora on January 2nd at gunpoint at his residence in Kajjansi around 2 am.

According to prosecution, Kaweesi broke into the house, overpowered Olubora, tied him up and proceeded to rob valuables including 6.8 million shillings in cash.

Delivering the sentence on Thursday, Justice Wilson J Kwesiga said that the prosecution provided sufficient evidence that Kaweesi participated in the car robbery because he was found in possession of the stolen car.

Justice Kwesiga added that he has given Kaweesi a lenient sentence because the convict didn't harm the victim like what other robbers do. He added that at 27 years, there is also hope that Kaweesi can reform.

On Tuesday, Justice Kwesiga convicted Kaweesi on charges of robbery though the state had preferred aggravated robbery.

However, Kwesiga says the state failed to provide evidence that Kaweesi used a gun during the car robbery.

Last week, two court assessors advised Court to convict Kaweesi.
